“The [REDACTED] opened a managed account with Berrie Coble on 8/7/18. They claim that they were not aware their assets would be sold and that they would be responsible for any taxes made on capital gains. No issues arose and the clients seemed happy until they began to file their 2018 taxes in October of 2019. At this time, they realized they owed a large amount of taxes which they claim created issues with their Health Insurance. They state they had asked Berrie not to do anything which would require them to pay taxes. However, Berrie states this isn‘t true and they signed multiple disclosures stating their assets would be sold and they would be responsible for any taxes. On 2/5/19, we received a complaint they filed with the SEC. The firm provided a response to the clients and to the SEC on 2/20/19.”
